At a packed Gala Dinner which took place at Bordeaux’s splendid Palais de la Bourse last Thursday evening, Chateau Clinet along with other sponsors raised more than €116,000 to help finance a new training centre for Union Bordeaux Bègles rugby club.
Hosted by former French Internationals Olivier Brouzet and Vincent Moscato, the evening saw many of our region’s most famous wines being auctioned off to raise funds.
Players and coaching staff from Union Bordeaux Bègles mingled with guests, to enjoy a gourmet meal served by the team of Michelin star chef Philippe Etchebest, as several signed shirts also went under the hammer.
Clinet has been a proud member of UBB Grands Crus, the organisers of last week’s fundraiser, since its launch in 2013. Today, this association is responsible for almost one third of UBB’s sponsorship income, running various events throughout the year that unite the worlds of wine and rugby and promote their common values.
Ronan Laborde commented: “UBB Grands Crus allows our region’s owners and producers, who are so passionate about the quality of their wines, to indulge their sporting passion for our local Top 14 team. It’s a huge privilege for Château Clinet to be part of this association and we look forward to supporting UBB for a long time to come.”
These photos from last Thursday night show the quality of the hospitality, the excitement of the auction and the fun that was had celebrating the progress of UBB.
